Officially, we bid goodbye to our dearest D80 this week.

Sold to a wonderful guy who goes around the region taking photos and documentary to raise funds for less privileged children. http://flickr.com/photos/ramdiboy
Well, at least we know our D80 will continue to serve its purpose with a great new meaning. For the D80 that has gone through thick and thins with us, here’s a compilation of some of the works taken with it.

Captured this shot of TL when we went to Sentosa a week ago. It’s a place where we can always find new sites to shoot everytime we go.

Taken at Rasa Sentosa. We were surprised to find such a quiet and isolated corner.

I was very inspired by the purpose of this photo competition when I first read about it. Unlike conventional photography competition, the final 6 winners do not win photography equipments from sponsors or cash prizes.

Instead, they will be rewarded with an expedition trip to Sri Lanka to distribute rice to meet the basic need of the victims of the tsunami by distributing rice to feed their stomach and document the country to create awareness that there are still many Sri Lankans who need help to restore their houses by photographing their real life conditions. And finally, a photo exhibition will be held to help raise funds and work towards providing a permanent and safe home for the victims of the tsunami.

As the organizer coins it “This is a once in a lifetime dream for many photo enthusiast.” Coincidentally, it was an opportunity to showcase some of my work that reflects living conditions that I had witness in Indonesia. Although I did not win the trip, I thank those who had helped voted for my work.

Recently, ZY got a chance to witness an Indonesian wedding, with a touch of papparazzi. Location: Jakarta. The witness account to me how the couple were constantly surrounded by a swarm of flies (PGs and VG), making even the guests hard to catch a glimpse of what was going on. Hmm…..certainly something to ponder on. Anyway, he managed to catch some shots but at the same time, inviting some unfriendly stare from a fellow ‘fly’. Haha, nevertheless, still quite an experience!

We were given a chance to shoot our friend’s ROM ceremony in May at The Fullerton. Thanks to illZ for the kind words and recommendation to Yiwen! It was a difficult decision as we had mixed feelings. We were excited by the opportunity but kind of worried at the proposal in the beginning and requested to just be the sub-photographer, as we have absolutely ZERO experience! However, in a turn of events, we eventually mustered enough courage to accept the challenge.

There was actually not much preparation time as ZY was still messing around with his FYP at that time. We had held talks with Yiwen mainly but finally got to meet her husband a few days before the ROM together with illZ (the emcee). That serves as a good pre-session to break the ice and familiarize with each other.

The actual day turned out to be pretty good. I was helping out with miscellaneous stuff and some of the object shots and certain shots which could have been stressing if ZY were to do it all by himself for the first time. All in all, it was a very rewarding and meaningful experience, especially when reviewing the work and feeling happy to have captured the joyous moments of an important day for the couple. We simply love the shots, I think we are viewing the slideshow probably more than they did….hahaha! And we are very happy to have made a couple of new friends from this event.

To start off the 1st post on this site, I’ll give a brief intro to how we ended up playing with cameras. We were first introduced to photography by our friend (which bear an almost identical name to me). Deeply poisoned by him, ZY set out to purchase his first DSLR in mid 2007.

We did whatever a beginner would do. Shooting objects, flowers, stones, whatever you can think of (seriously), even a crack on the pavement of Bontanic Gardens would amaze us. Slowly, he found pleasure in taking portraits more than anything.
Being the lovely girlfriend (as I always am), I volunteered myself to model for him. Thanks to him, I ended up all chao tar (burnt) after the first shoot. We spent many happy and angry moments looking around for places and shooting together. Then we would normally share our work on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/zytl), however, we feel that a blog might provide a different platform for us to share our experience and thoughts with all our friends and fellow photographers.

Feel free to leave comments and critics, and pop by whenever you think of us!
